Video Clip on Record of Protests Against the Military (January 2024)
Since the illegitimate takeover by the military, Myanmar’s citizens have been expressing their rejection of the tyrannical seizure of power through various forms of protest. The military council, in response, has resorted to brutal measures, including arrests, imprisonment, torture, and even shooting and killing demonstrators. Despite more than two years of enduring this unjust coup, the people across Myanmar, spanning all provinces, continue to protest vehemently against the coup and the oppressive governance.
In January 2024, the Women Lead Resource Center (WLRC), Magway Region Human Rights Network (MHRN), and Youth Empowerment (YE) released a comprehensive video report documenting the number of protests against the military council’s violent takeover and unjust repression. This report is compiled from information obtained through news outlets and data collectors with access to various regions. It is acknowledged that there may still be unreported incidents, and the actual number of protests against the military council could be higher than reflected in this account.
This video report is a testament to the resilience and unwavering spirit of the Myanmar people in their fight for justice and democracy.
