Since the February 1, 2021 coup, Myanmar’s military junta has continuously perpetrated human rights abuses. In April 2024, the State Administration Council (SAC) intensified its oppressive measures, leading to severe human rights violations. This period saw brutal crackdowns on peaceful protests, with excessive force including tear gas, rubber bullets, and live ammunition, resulting in numerous injuries and deaths. Arbitrary arrests of activists, journalists, and civilians were widespread, with many subjected to torture in secret locations. Targeted killings of political opponents further heightened the atmosphere of fear and repression. Military actions displaced entire communities, sparking a humanitarian crisis with thousands lacking essential resources.<\/span><\/p>\n The SAC also ramped up its censorship efforts, closing independent media outlets and implementing internet blackouts to stifle dissent and control information. This video clip, created in collaboration with Youth Empowerment (YE), Women Lead Resource Center (WLRC), and Magway Region Human Rights Network (MHRN), exposes these violations.
