Since the February 1, 2021 coup, Myanmar’s military junta has persistently violated human rights nationwide. In March 2024, the State Administration Council (SAC) escalated its repressive measures, resulting in severe abuses. These actions included violent crackdowns on peaceful protests, where security forces employed tear gas, rubber bullets, and live ammunition, causing numerous injuries and fatalities. Arbitrary arrests and detentions of activists, journalists, and civilians surged, with many detainees facing torture and ill-treatment in undisclosed locations. Additionally, reports of targeted killings of political opponents have contributed to a climate of fear and repression.<\/span><\/p>\n Military operations have forcibly displaced entire communities, leading to a humanitarian crisis as thousands are left without basic necessities. The SAC has also intensified its suppression of free speech, shutting down independent media outlets and imposing internet blackouts to silence opposition and control the flow of information.<\/span><\/p>\n This video clip, produced in collaboration with Youth Empowerment (YE), Women Lead Resource Center (WLRC), and Magway Region Human Rights Network (MHRN), highlights the human rights violations committed by the SAC in March 2024. The partner organizations unequivocally condemn these violations and urge the international community to hold the SAC accountable and support the restoration of democracy and human rights in Myanmar.<\/span><\/p>\n By documenting and sharing these abuses, we aim to raise awareness and mobilize global action against the ongoing repression in Myanmar.
