Video Clip on Record of Protests Against the Military (May 2024)
Following the military’s unlawful takeover, the people of Myanmar have persistently shown their opposition through a variety of protests. The junta has responded with intense repression, including mass arrests, detention, torture, and even lethal violence against demonstrators. Even after more than two years of this harsh regime, citizens throughout Myanmar remain actively engaged in resisting the coup and its authoritarian rule.
In May 2024, the Women Lead Resource Center (WLRC), Magway Region Human Rights Network (MHRN), and Youth Empowerment (YE) released an extensive video report capturing the scale of protests against the military council’s severe actions and unjust rule. This report draws on information from news sources and field collectors with access to different regions. It is acknowledged that some protests may not be fully documented, and the actual number of demonstrations against the military council might be higher than what is presented.
This video report underscores the unwavering determination and resilience of the Myanmar people as they persist in their fight for justice and democracy.
