Conducting the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls Awareness Sharing Campaign
On November 25, 2024, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF) and the Women Lead Resource Center (WLRC) hosted an online campaign to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls. The event, attended by 23 participants from partner organizations, aimed to raise awareness about gender-based violence and promote collective action for its elimination. The session featured presentations on global statistics, cultural barriers, and gaps in Myanmar’s legal frameworks, followed by group discussions on anti-violence measures and community awareness.
The campaign highlighted key challenges such as limited awareness in rural areas and insufficient survivor support, with recommendations for enhancing outreach, legal protections, and capacity-building efforts. NMF reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for women’s rights and combating violence against them.
